'Where's the Great Wall of China?' TV Contestant Can't Guess

A video of a woman appearing to be totally stumped on a gameshow question about the Great Wall of China is going viral.

In the short clip from the Turkish edition of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire aired on August 4, 26-year-old economics grad Su Ayhan of Istanbul was shown struggling to answer what should have been a pretty easy question: "Where is the Great Wall of China?" 

The answer options provided were China, India, South Korea and Japan.

Surprisingly, Ayhan used not one, but two lifelines on the question. As if that wasn't bad enough, just 51 percent of the audience members suggested the correct answer when she used her first lifeline, which might actually be worse than fake friends writing the wrong answers on the mirror.

"I know the answer but I’d like to ask the audience," was quoted as saying, according to Turkish newspaper the Hürriyet Daily News.

Disappointed by the audience's input, Ayhan then used her second lifeline, calling a friend to get the correct final answer. (Spoiler alert: it was China).

“I hope many people in the audience failed to answer the question thinking it was too easy to be asked, setting a trap," wrote Hürriyet Daily News columist Ahmet Hakan. "Otherwise, this huge ignorance problem cannot be solved, even with our new Education Minister.”

“What kind of education system do you have in Turkey?" questioned a Beijing-based Twitter account in response to the video.

Following the criticism, Ayhan defended her use of lifelines on the question, saying: "I could use my lifelines whenever I wanted."

Whether the guessing game was the real deal — or just an elaborate stunt — is anyone's guess.
